Philadelphia PA - Chinatown An early fall day in Philadelphia's Chinatown painted on top of Chinese Newspapers given to me by a friend. Painted as a triptych - three cradled wooden panels bolted firmly together for easy transport. Items of note: Painting was created mostly in the studio but was finished on location at the Rittenhouse Square Fine Art Show in June 2017. During that show singer Dave Matthews happened to stop into my booth to check out what I was working on and accepted my offer to paint a little. One of my favorite features of this piece is the perfect illustration of the magic that can happen through use of the newspaper ground. If you look closely at the image with the red Chinese lettering on a white sign you can see a little head peering down over the neighborhood in the pagoda. Completely unplanned and a perfect little addition to the piece.
